In the present method for snow melting on driveways using heating cables, the heating cables are normally buried inside concrete slabs. However this method inherently confines itself to concrete slab pavements Therefore development workhas been deemed necessary to render the heating system: Adaptable to different kinds of surface pavements especially the popular stone pavement whose floating character and its higher resistance to the heat flow (the heat has to travel through 4" of sand and concrete) renders its heating by existing methods difficult. Efficient as far as heating is concerned by creating a heat sink made of a double steel wire mesh around which the heating cable is wound. The wire mesh, due to its relative high conductivity, absorbs the heat quickly from the heating cable, prevents the cable from overheating, and diffuses the heat upwards where it is required The imbedded styrofoam sheet prevents the heat from being lost downwards. Floating i.e. the modules should be free to follow the earth settlement if it occurs without straining the electrical connections. Modular i.e. composed of adjascent heating modules easily manufactured and readily expandable
