The planting tube (5) hangs freely, and as the result of its own wt. is adjusted vertically at all times. In the lower end of the planting tube is a hatch (6) which can be opened with the said of a hydraulic cylinder (7). The tube (5) is rotatably located in the cardan suspension (9) so that it can move forwards and backwards to give a boring motion. In use, the arm (3) and the planting tube (5) move freely downwards from an upright position so that the soil is penetrated. Should this movement not be sufficient for soil penetration, the forward and backward movement ensures entry into the soil to the required depth. |
