An excavating tooth is described, with a point equipped with a bush mounted on a secure adaptor nose by means of a vertical pin of one of the sides of the nose, the aforesaid nose being notched for the reception of the pin and being equipped with a flexible retainer which extends transversely to the length of the point, the aforesaid point having at least one lateral wall which extends rearwards beyond the bush, the lateral wall having integral, mutually separate lug portions with front- facing surfaces which lean on the pin, the notch of the nose providing a rear-facing surface which leans on the pin which remains held between it and the leaning surfaces of the lug.
