The gel-application instrument comprises a bell-shaped component (1) of soft elastic material and with a central aperture (5). A holder (2) containing a chamber extends from the outside through the aperture, and has one or more openings at its inner end. It can be narrowed (4) at this end, with an axial end opening and side ones symmetrically situated. The holder can be cylindrical and contain a piston (8). USE - For inducing labour in childbirth, with min. discomfort to patient.
