摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a higher optical coupling degree between an optical element and an optical waveguide path as compared with a conventional one by making a first left and right accepting surfaces of a recessed part to accept a second left and right accepting surfaces of an optical element respectively. CONSTITUTION:The height of a first left and right inner sides 8L1 and 8R1 of a recess 7 is shown by HG1, the height of a second left and right inner sides 8L2 and 8R2 is shown by HG2, the height of a first and outer sides 23L1 and 23R1 of a semiconductor laser 10 as an optical element is shown by HE1, of a second left and right outer surface 23L2 and 23R2 is shown by HE2, the thickness of the electrode layers 21 and 9 is shown by DE and DG, an interval between a first left and right accepting surfaces 8CL and 8CR passing through the center in the vertical direction of a front end face 3a of a core part and a parallel face is shown by YG0 and an interval between a second left and right accepting faces 23CL and 23CR going through the center in the vertical direction of the rear end face 14a of a core layer 14 and the parallel face is shown by YE0 so as to be in the relation to be shown in the formula. Then, a second left and right sides 23CL and 23CR of an optical element are made to be accepted by a first left and right accepting faces 8CL and 8CR of the recessed part.
