Arrangement for generating a compensation signal for digital transmission equipment. The compensation signal is formed by an iterative circuit of a transversal first filter and a recursive filter. No further data needs to be exchanged between the filters. The first filter and the recursive filter are connected in series so that the pulse response of the filter arrangement corresponds to the convolution product of the pulse responses of the first filter and of the recursive filter.
