A method and system for the monitoring of the composition of pulp furnish. The system for analyzing this composition, and especially the ratio of hardwood fibers to softwood fibers comprises in combination a single particle analyzer, a specially constructed flow cell, and means for analyzing the resulting signals. The paper is illuminated during the production process by means of a laser beam which results in specific interaction pulses which differ from softwood to hardwood fibers, and which pulses are evaluated so as to determine fiber diameter distribution and establishing the ratio between the softwood fibers and the hardwood fibers. |
