A sample transport device (2) for use in analyzing samples by the headspace analysis technique. The device has a cylindrical platen (4) with counterbored chambers (16) for accepting sample vials (20). The temperature of the platen (4) is controlled by heater (76). The platen (4) is caused to rotate by motor (66) from a first vial transport point to a sampling point having needle (114) and then back for ejection of the sample vial (20). Vertical movement of the sample vials (20) is accomplished by use of elevator rods (88, 104, 120) connected to level winding screws (90, 106, 122) mounted below the cylindrical platen (4). |
