A method of forming glass containers includes the step of drying a stream of air in a drier 8. The dried air is passed into a vacuum-insulated mixing chamber 20. Liquid cryogen is evaporated in the mixing chamber 20. The resulting vaporised cryogen mixes with the air to form a mixture at a temperature below minus 20C. This gas mixture flows into a vacuum-insulated manifold 48, which distributes the insides of a plurality of glass containers being formed inside the moulds 60 of a moulding machine.
