PURPOSE:To attain the use of the above photodetecting device as a linear optical sensor or planar optical sensor by forming at least one light incident region on the peripheral surface of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 22 is formed with at least one light incident region. Prescribed processing is, therefore, executed when the light entering, as shown by arrows X1 to X4, from the light incident regions to the optical fiber 22 and is guided toward a photodetecting circuit 21, as shown by an arrow X0 and is detected by the photodetecting circuit 21. Thus, the receiving of the light even from the peripheral surface of the optical fiber 22 is executed and the use of this device as the linear optical sensor is possible. The use of the device as the curved optical sensor is possible as well if the optical fiber 22 is curved and extended. |
