PURPOSE:To lessen the fluctuation in the concn. of the toner in a developer and the change in properties, such as electrostatic charge characteristics of magnetic carrier particles and flowability, and to form good-quality images by replenish providing the developer removed by a cleaning means via a developer returning means to a developing means. CONSTITUTION:This device is constituted by transferring the images, which are visualized to sensible images from the electrostatic latent images on an image carrying member 2, onto a material to be transferred, then removing the developer remaining on the image carrying base by the cleaning means 8, then transferring the developer to a replenishing means 10 which replenishes the unused developer to the developing means 5. The residual developer transferred into the replenishing means 10 is, therefore, agitated and mixed with the developer consisting of the toner particles of the unused developer having the toner concn. higher than the toner concn. of the residual developer and the magnetic carrier particles which are not changed in the properties, such as electrostatic charge characteristics and flowability, within the replenishing means 10. As a result, the mixed developers are uniformly mixed with the residual developer and the unused developer as compared with the residual developer when the developer is removed from the surface of the drum 2 by the cleaning means 8. The localized existence of the developers having the specific nature is thus obviated. The concn. and properties of the toner are uniformized in this way and the good-quality images are formed. |
