PURPOSE:To allow stable display of high quality without having flickering, etc., even if an inexpensive liquid crystal material of a small resistivity is used by forming oriented films of a high-polymer oriented material having the polar force component of specific surface energy. CONSTITUTION:The oriented films 5a, 5b formed on the electrode-forming surfaces of both substrates 1a, 1b are formed of the high-polymer oriented material having the polar force component of the surface energy thereof as large as about >=9dyn/cm. The voltage holding rate between electrodes 2 and 4 can be sufficiently taken high regardless of the resistivity of a liquid crystal 7 if the oriented films 5a, 5b are formed of the high-polymer oriented material having the large polar force component of the surface energy. The stable display of the high quality without having the flickering, etc., is obtd. in this way even if the inexpensive liquid crystal material of the small resistivity is used. |
