An absorbent towel for grown-ups or for a child's nappy has a main absorbent pad covered on opposite faces by a liq. permeable layer and a protective layer bonded together. Laterally of the main pad and at higher levels are two narrow absorbent pads sepd. by gaps from the main pad, which is divided by transverse lines of stitching. Elastic strips running lengthwise of the towel are bonded to flock-free areas. ADVANTAGE - An increased capacity for liq. which is readily distributed over entire absorptive area.
