A dispenser (1a) for dispensing a single dose of a powder medium is incorporated in an essentially hermetically sealed medium chamber (12a) with an essentially hermetically sealed compressed air pump (6a). The pump chamber (9a) can be opened to the medium chamber (12a) through an inlet valve (16a) only after a first partial section of the pump stroke, whereupon the compressed air flow fluidizes the powder and expels it in a spurt to the dispenser outlet (14a). A basic body (2a) forms an outer housing (5a) of elongated cross-section with a freely accessible pump cylinder (7a). The dispenser outlet (1a) can be easily gripped at the handles (34a, 35a) with which it is also actuated.
