PURPOSE:To suppress the lowering of activity of a catalyst when repeatedly used or continuously used for a long period by using a catalyst obtained by bringing niobium oxide carried on a support into contact with hydrogen, in producing the title compound from ethyleneamine and ethanolamine. CONSTITUTION:Ethyleneamine is made to react with ethanolamine using a substance as the catalyst obtained by heating niobium oxide carried on a support under hydrogen atmosphere, preferably at 100-1000 deg.C, especially 200-800 deg.C so as to bring the substance into contact with hydrogen at 200-350 deg.C to industrially and advantageously provide polyethylenepolyamine. The above-mentioned catalyst is reduced in lowering of activity even when the catalyst is repeatedly used or continuously used for a long time. |
