PURPOSE:To heat food in any container irrespective of its material by covering a heating coil with a microwave shield that is composed of dielectric material and metal fibers. CONSTITUTION:A microwave oven includes a food chamber 3, a magnetron l for dielectric heating, a waveguide 4 for conducting microwave to the chamber 3, and an induction heating coil 5. The heating coil is placed in the chamber and covered with a microwave shield 6 that is composed of a dielectric material and metal fibers. Since the heating coil 5 is protected from microwave by the shield 6, both dielectric heating and induction heating are available in the chamber. Therefore, food can be heated in any container irrespective of its material. |
