PURPOSE: To easily open/close a spout of a kettle without touching a lid by providing a handle in which a first end is located on the opposite side to the upper spout, and fixed to a rotary shaft located close to a bottom part, and a second end covers the spout, and opens the spout. CONSTITUTION: A one side end 19 is mourned on a kettle 1 along a bottom part of an upper part 12 along a bottom part, and a handle 14 mounted through an opening part 26 of a lid 20 of a spout 13 is provided on another end 18. The end 18 of the handle 14 is condition of a kettle when water is boiled or the kettle in a placed condition is brought close to an inner wall surface where the spout 13 is the most shallow. When the kettle 1 is carried or water is poured from, the kettle, the handle 14 is turned upward until the end 18 is abutted on the highest inner wall surface of the spout 13, and pushes up the lid of the spout 13 to open the opening part. The lid 20 is stopped above the spout 13, and a hand of a user holding the handle is protected from the steam. When the kettle is placed, the lid of the spout is returned to the opening part of the spout by the weight of the handle 14, and the spout 13 is automatically closed.
