ROOM ACOUSTIC SIMULATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To exactly and easily evaluate acoustic performance by visualizing the results by computer simulation as a three-dimensional stereoscopic display on a CRT screen and predicting the musical tones after the completion of a building from the waveform obtd. therefrom. CONSTITUTION:The personal simulation 1, a sound field reproduction evaluation system 2 and a three-dimensional stereoscopic display system 3 are provided and the main simulation program (Ps) is moved. Reverberation time is calculated from the information (data on sound absorbing coefft., etc.) constituting the room shape and face and interior materials are approximately determined. The outline of the room shape is studied by the Ps obtd. by a sound line method and thereafter waveforms or various acoustic physical quantities are calculated by the Ps obtd. by a virtual image method. Sound line routes are specified when an echo fault arises. The parts in problem are then formed as a sound absorbing or diffusing surface and the design plan is corrected. These procedures are repeated until the desirable design plan is obtd. The musical tones after the completion of the building are reproduced in this way and the acoustic characteristics of the room space are evaluated even by a person who is not the specialist of acoustics. The easy investigation of the design plane is thus possible.
