The invention relates to a device for adjusting the inclination of the head part of a bed base, which can be tilted about a horizontal shaft, characterised in that the shaft (3) supports the operating point (11) of a second energy accumulator (10) which is more powerful and prestressed in the same direction, the point of operation of which, located at its other end (12), is also housed at the immobile part (2) of the bed base, the line of force of the second energy accumulator (10) intersecting the tilt shaft (3), when the tiltable part (1) of the bed base is in the horizontal position of rest and exhibiting a distance which increases with respect to the tilt shaft (3) at the beginning of tilting of the bed base part (1). The device allows easy unlocking of the locked energy accumulator, easy lowering of the head part into the horizontal position, and erecting and folding of the mattress in a reliable manner. <IMAGE>
