This ingot mould includes a wall (1), on the inner surface of which are provided, on either side of the level where the meniscus (4) of the liquid metal (2) is usually located, a series of grooves (5) covered with a deposit of a material which is less thermally conducting than the basic metal from which the wall (1) is formed. The solidification of the liquid metal is thus delayed at the level of the meniscus (4), which makes it possible to obtain a surface of the product which is more uniform and has less marked oscillation ripples (folds). <IMAGE>
