The device for applying a force between a base plate (1) and a foundation element, such as a pile. A hole (3) is first bored and the tip (4) of the drill left at the bottom of the hole. The load is then applied through a pressure chair (18) and a screwed bar (6). The screwed bar (6) is supported by a screwed sleeve (10) attached to a head plate (11) which is fitted inside a support tube (12). The annular space between the screwed bar (6) and the hole (3) is then filled with concrete (8) to form the pile.
