In a vehicle braking system having an anti-skid valve arrangement (8) and having as a first pressure source a master cylinder (4) and as a second pressure source a return pump (20) with accumulators (9, 11), a brake pressure source selection valve is provided in the form of a hydraulically controllable two-port, two-position valve (13) having a first control inlet (23) connected to the master cylinder (4) and a second control inlet (24) connected to the second pressure source (9, 10, 11), the valve (13) being spring biassed to the open position to connect the master cylinder to the brake for normal braking and closing automatically to connect instead the second source to the brake during anti-skid control. In an alternative arrangement the first inlet (23) is connected to the brake(s) (6, 7) instead of the master cylinder. <IMAGE>
