PURPOSE: To enable a bed to be used safely in any position of a vertical adjusting range by providing a guide assembly to which one side end of a bed frame is movably mounted and a lift mechanism fitted in the bed frame near the one end side and provided with a drive source to provide a self-binding structure. CONSTITUTION: A suspension type bed 1 has guide rails 2a, 2b and bed frame edges 5, 6 on an end of a side wall and is constituted from a bed frame 4 vertically movable along the guide rails 2a, 2b, lifting mechanisms 7a, 7b and an overload preventing device 8 in the intermediate position of bed frame members 9, 10. A ceiling plate 11 and a leg plate 12 having a gusset 13 are fixed to the guide rails 2a, 2b to be restrained in a predetermined position according to a falling force. The lifting mechanisms 7a, 7b consist of rotatable threaded lift spindles 14a, 14b, synchronously rotating electric motors 15a, 15b and lift spindle.nuts to provide a self-binding structure not to move the bed frame 4 unexpectedly vertically.
