PURPOSE:To display an image sharp and easy to observe and with high quality and to improve operability when editing the image by calculating the mean value of gradation at every dither pattern of an original image, and replacing the dither pattern consisting of one fundamental matrix by a dither image with gradation of calculated mean value. CONSTITUTION:A matrix extraction processing part 23 extracts the dither pattern of an image block from an image memory 8 before it is transferred from the image memory 8 to a display memory 11, and a black dot is detected at a black dot detecting part 24, and the number of black dots is counted with a black dot number counter 25. An arithmetic processing part 26 calculates the mean number of black dots for the image block of one fundamental matrix, and outputs the mean value. A pattern generation processing part 27 informs the information of the mean value to a pattern retrieval processing part 28, and receives the pattern data of the dither image with gradation corresponding to a dither pattern storage part 10, and transfers the pattern data to the display memory 11, and displays it on a screen. In such a way, it is possible to display the image sharp and easy to observe and with high quality, and to improve the operability in editing. |
