PURPOSE:To enable even an amateur to design a system disk by referring to the task-based input/output load knowledge, the disk type-based specification knowledge, and the system file allocation designing model knowledge. CONSTITUTION:A system disk unit number designing means 2 refers to the task-based input/output load knowledge 5 and the disk type-based specification knowledge 6 stored in an external storage device 4 and calculates the necessary number of system disks. A system file allocation designing means 3 refers to the system file allocation designing model knowledge 8 corresponding to the number of disks stored in an external storage device 7 and produces an allocation plan of a system file. Thus a system disk designing task is facilitated.
