PURPOSE:To perform an irradiation onto a recording position only when the irradiaton is required, e.g., at the time of correction or margin setting by a method wherein an irradiating device is provided with three types of irradiation modes, which are set as desired by an operator. CONSTITUTION:With an input from a keyboard 13, a CPU 14 transmits a signal for lighting or extinguishing an LED 4a serving as an irradiating means 4 to an LED drive circuit 18. Normally, when a sentence is typed, the printed characters are stored in a RAM 16. If a part to be corrected is found after that, a back space key 19 or a back trace key 20 is depressed, and a printing position is made coincident with the appropriate character by a carriage 2 and a sheet feed means 7 for preparing for printing. After that, an operator depresses a correction key 21 to complete correction. When the mode of the irradiating means 4 is an occasionally irradiating mode at this time, the aforesaid key is depressed, and the position is irradiated when a printing means comes into the printed area in the RAM 16. After the completion of correction, the operator depresses a space key 22 or a relock key 23 and extinguishes the irradiating means 4 when bringing the printing means 3 out of the printed area. |
