The piston rod is movable in direction of the cylinder axis, and relative to the cylinder. It carries a concentric sealing element, and is held in bearings for the axial movement, which is caused by pressure chambers on either side of the sealing element, esp. via two pressure medium connections. Ring seals limit the axial ends of the pressure chambers. These are mounted in the housing near the medium connections at a distance, which is larger than the largest possible axial stroke.
