The switching control system uses an electrically operated time control valve inserted in a hydraulic line controlling one of 2 friction clutches, used to select a number of different transmission ratios. The valve is used to control the fluid coupling between the first hydraulic line and a second hydraulic line for the other friction clutch and is supplied with control signals by an electrical or electronic control stage at a given delay time after the initiation of the press variation for the first friction clutch.
