The percussion musical instrument is provided with a damper consisting of at least one damping body (13). This is mounted inside the resonance body (11) of the instrument but is not in contact with the resonance body or with the drum skin (12). The damping body is made of material with a low specific weight and has a large specific area. The damping body may have an outer covering of paper, cardboard or wood and be filled with cotton wool.
