A control means for use with a flat and planar display unit in a computer system is adapted in a manner which enables the control means to be used in different working methods. The control means includes a control device, such as a ball (25), which is mounted on one side of the housing (10) of the control means and which functions to control cursor movement on a display unit or on a picture projected from the image on the display screen. The control means can be held freely in the hand, at the same time as the control device can be manipulated comfortably with the thumb. The control means can also be detachably connected to one side edge of a display unit (34) or to one side edge of a keyboard, so that the display unit or keyboard can be held comfortably in the hands, with one hand gripping around the control means such as to allow the control device to be manipulated comfortably with the thumb. This enables the display unit and the keyboard to be held in different positions in relation to the user, e.g. in a horizontal and/or inclined position on a table top, or to be held freely in the hands and, for instance, placed on the knees of the user. |
