摘要 PURPOSE:To promptly return to required ignition timing when the area in which the speed at which ignition is advanced is high is set to delay side exceeding the maximum delayed ignition timing by continuing a high state of the speed at which ignition is advanced, even when ignition timing is out of the area and on the advance side. CONSTITUTION:A means M2 detects whether or not knocking occurs in an internal combustion engine M1. Ignition is controlled by a means M3 in such a manner that when knocking is detected ignition timing is varied in the direction in which it is advanced, while when not in the direction in which it is delayed. A means M4 detects that ignition is delayed exceeding the maximum delayed ignition timing. When this over-delay is detected the speed at which ignition is advanced is changed by a means M5 so that the speed is higher. Further, a high state of the speed at which ignition is advanced is continued by a means M6 for a predetermined period even when ignition is delayed exceeding the maximum delayed ignition timing.
