The profiled girders, contg the inherent stresses in the longitudinal direction, formed during mfr are straightened by discs on the shafts (1) of a straightening machine, which are brought to bear against the girder web adjacent to the flanges. The inherent stress distribution in the girder (9) is detected, and one or more intermediate straightening discs (4) are brought to engage the web, between drives (2,3) working at its edges. The intermediatea drive is of larger dia. than that of the edge drives, with all drives mounted on the same shaft. ADVANTAGE - Adverse effects of inherent stress distribution is eliminated.
