A platelike drilling bit (1) may be secured by interlocking or friction engagement in the shank (2) of a self-drilling fastener. At its end region towards its shank (2), the bit (1) has a flat extension (4) in the plane of the bit (1). The end of the shank (2) carrying the bit (1) has a central aperture (5). The extension (4) of the bit (1) can be inserted in the aperture (5) in the shank (2) and supported in the aperture on two diametrically opposed limits to the inner wall of the aperture (5) providing a tight fit. This gives adequate support and the precisely axially parallel alignment of the bit (1) and the shank (2) without any additional machining. |
