<p>A process is described for the recovery of gold from gold-loaded thiosulphate solution. The solution is treated with at least a stoichiometric amount of cyanide ions and the resultant gold complex is adsorbed by an adsorbent, such as carbon or a resin. The gold loaded adsorbent is then subjected to stripping to recover adsorbed gold. The process is surprisingly effective in separating gold from thiosulphate solutions which are normally difficult to treat.</p>
