Measurement of position radioactive source in space - uses four sensors with variable geometry to find exact source-to-sensor distances from calculation of energy decay in medium
摘要
A process to give bearings on a radioactive source measures the radiation impulse rate from 4 detectors placed within the range of the ionising radiation from the source. The position of the sensors is varied according to a redn of error condition to assess the distances of the detectors from the source and enable calculation of coordinates. Pref the medium between the source and the detectors is homogeneous and allows the redn of intensity to be calculated. The coordinates are pref calculated as time dependant functions of a source moved on tracks in a space. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in nuclear medicine and engineering, isotope prodn military intelligence and civil defence. The location of a radioactive source is in a convenient coordinate system without additional energy sources or equipment.
