PURPOSE: To sustain a substantially constant back pressure during fluctuation of the temperature and height by providing a chamber contiguously to an ink reservoir, feeding ink thereto depending on pressure fluctuation in the ink reservoir or providing a capillary element in liquid communication with the reservoir such that the pressure in a print head is kept below the ambient pressure by receiving ink from the ink reservoir. CONSTITUTION: Ink flowing into a chamber 18 keeps fluid communication with ink in an ink reservoir 12 through a capillary element 20 in the chamber 18. When the air pressure in the reservoir 12 is settled, ink passes through a port 22 and returns back to the reservoir 12 from the capillary element 20 which sucks the air in place of ink returning back to the reservoir 12. Fluid communication with the chamber 18 acts to keep the back pressure in the reservoir 12 within a desired range while holding print ink. During fluctuation of the temperature and height, ink moved between the reservoir 12 and the capillary element 20 to sustain a reduced pressure at the orifice plate of a print head 16. |
