PURPOSE: To improve the wear resistance by arranging a diamond generation catalyst and a metallic barrier disk on a diamond particle layer and exposing them under prescribed temperature and pressure conditions to prevent depletion of Co from a sintered carbide support body. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst metallic disk 2 consisting of Co etc., is arranged adjacently to a diamond or a cubic boron nitride CBN particle layer 1. A mass in which a metallic barrier disk 3 made of Ta etc., is arranged, is formed between the disk 2 and a sintered carbide support body or carbide compact powder 4 consisting of carbide W bonded with Co. Then, the mass is in the diamond or CBN stable region in a carbon or boron nitride phase diagram and exposed under temperature lower than the melting point of the disk 3 and pressure conditions. |
