PURPOSE:To make a half bearing housing lightweight by applying a plating layer and an alloy layer of respectively specified thicknesses to the surface of an austenitic stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:A half bearing which has a three-layer backing plate consisting of an austenitic stainless steel backing plate part 1 with >=15X10<-6> coefficient of thermal expansion, a plating adhesion layer 2 of 0.05-5mum thickness provided on the above part 1, and a Cu plating layer 3 of 1-20mum thickness provided on he above layer 2 and also has a copper-lead alloy layer 4 of 0.1-2mm thickness on the above-mentioned three-layer baking plate is constituted. By this method, even a housing which is reduced in rigidity because of its high expanding property and cannot be driven at a large press fitting clearance can be followed, the press fitting clearance can be relatively less and the housing can be made lightweight. |
