A straight line guide has a rail of specific length and a guide feature, a sliding member which moves over the rail and which has a second guide feature on the side opposite to the first and a number of rollers between rail and sliding member so that the latter moves along. The rail and/or sliding member is made of plastic material and one or other guide feature has a number of vertical grooves at intervals. The plastic material concerned includes at least one of polyaryletherketone, rollers are pref. plastics, stainless steel, glass or ceramics. ADVANTAGE - The product is very lightweight. It can be small. It is suitable for use in a corrosive environment or in magnetic fields.
