The power lawnmower with a reciprocating beam cutter at the front for a wide swathe is supported on two wheels on half-axles. They are combined with a mechanism, permitting separate brake of each wheel steering. The braking action is controlled by a lever on one handle, connected by a cable to the mechanism, or by swinging the handles. The system operates for forward or reverse travel, the amount of control being equal for either direction. When the control lever is tilted about a point between its ends, a pivot point included in the mechanism is changed in position.
