Disposal of contaminated structural elements, particularly internally contaminated tubes which must to be split into sections has plugs set in the tubes at the cut points. At each cut point a plug is inserted within the tube streaching each side of the intended cut point. The plugs completely fill the tube cross section and conform to the internal surface. A hole is pref. drilled at each cut point and a pref. self hardening material fed in to form the plug. Cutting is by a process which pref. does not produce heat. ADVANTAGE - Allows inexpensive disposal of contaminated structional elements using simple process to secure contamination from the environment.
