Use of known 5-pyridazinyl-benzimidazole derivs. - for treatment of acute or chromic obstructive respiratory disorders e.g. asthma bronchitis etc.

The use of cpds. of formula (I) or their 3H-tautomers, optical isomers or acid addn. salts for the treatment of acute or chronic obstructive respiratory disorders is new. R = hydroxy or methoxyphenyl. Specifically (I) is 2-(4-hydroxy or methoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-oxo-4,5-dihydro-2H-6-pyridazinyl)- benzimidazole. The use of (I) to prepare pharmaceutical compsns. together with one or more inert carriers or excipients is claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are known cardiovascular agents (c.f. EP---8391). They are now found to be useful in treatment of acute and chronic asthmas, bronchitis and emphysema. Daily dose is 0.1-5.0 mg orally or 0.005-0.030 mg by inhalation.
