The x-ray examination appts. has a resting place or couch (1) and a motor-driven carriage (6) slidable in the length direction. The carriage supports the photographing system (2,3,4). The drive motor (8) is switched off if the latter (2,3,4) encounters an obstacle. The photographing system is adjustable within limits w.r.t. the carriage in the length direction of the resting place. Sensors (14,15) detect the adjusting movement and stop the drive motor and the photographing system when the movement of the latter and hence the force exerted on it exceeds a predetermined amt. ADVANTAGE - Safety by simple construction.
