PURPOSE:To maintain the aging stability of ink for a thermal transfer layer and the thermal transfer layer and thereby obtain satisfactory coloring properties by using specific polyvinylbutyral resin as a binder resin containing sublimable or thermally melting transferable dye. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording body comprises a basic sheet applied with a thermal transfer layer composed of a binder resin containing sublimable or thermally transferable dye. Polyvinylbutyral resin is used as a binder resin and the ideal weight% of its vinylacetate part is 5 to 25% of the total polyvinylbutyral resin, preferably 10 to 20%. In this case, if the weight % of the vinylacetate is not more than 5%, the aging stability of ink for the thermally transferable layer is not sufficient and a gelation phenomenon occurs. On the other hand, if the mentioned weight% of the vinylacetate part is more than 25%, the weight% of the vinylbutyral part of the polyvinylbutyral resin reduces significantly. Therefore, the strength of a coating when a thermally transferable layer is formed decreases. |
