PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject polymer excellent in heat resistance and moldability and having a high rate of crystallization by using a specified catalyst in polymerization of a styrene-based monomer and an indene-based monomer. CONSTITUTION:Using (A) a transition metal component (preferably cyclopentadienyl titanium trimethoxide, etc.) and (B) a product compound (preferably methylaluminoxane which is product compound of catalytic reaction between trimethylaluminum and water) of a catalytic reaction between an organoaluminum compound and a condensation agent as catalyst components, a styrene-based monomer (e.g. styrene) of formula I (R<1> is H, halogen, etc.; m is 1-3) and an indene-based monomer (e.g. 1-methylindene) of formula II (R<2>-R<5> are R<1>; n is 1-4) are polymerized to obtain the objective polymer. In addition, the reaction is preferably carried out at 10-70 deg.C and for 1hr or more.
