PURPOSE:To allow a catalyst to have a function of combustion purifying of flammable carbonaceous fine particles from a low temp. by making a refractory structure carry praseodymium oxides or combining praseodymium oxides with refractory inorg. oxides in the form of carrier or mixed powder. CONSTITUTION:Praseodymium oxides are directly carried by a refractory structural body having mechanical strength and heat resistance such as ceramic foam, wall-flow type monolithic honeycomb, open-flow type ceramic honeycomb, open-flow type metal honeycomb, metal foamed body, metal mesh, ceramic fiber mesh, and inorg. oxide pellets, or praseodymium oxides are combined with refractory inorg. oxides such as alumina, silica, titania, zirconia in the form of carrier of mixed powder. By this method, praseodymium oxides are given a function of combustion purifying of flammable carbonaceous fine particles from the low temp. in an atmosphere incorporating oxygen molecules. Moreover, the catalyst can maintain its performance even when exposed at >=600 deg.C for along time. |
