PURPOSE:To enhance conversion efficiency by a method wherein the substance which forms an electron acceptive organic layer is an anthraquinone pigment. CONSTITUTION:A photovoltaic cell comprising a laminate of an n-type inorganic semiconductor, an electron acceptive organic layer, and an electron donative organic layer in this order between two electrodes one of which is transparent employs an anthraquinone pigment as the substance which forms the electron acceptive organic layer. Pigment Red 83, 84 Vat 1, 2 Mordant Red 2, 3 Disperse orange 11 Solvent Violet 13,14 Acid Red 80, 82 can be mentioned as the anthraquinone pigment; zinc oxide, zinc oxide doped with a trivalent metal, CdS, and titanium oxide as the n-type semiconductor layer to be used, and phthalocyanine, indigo-thioindigo, and quinacridone pigments as the electron donative organic layer. This constitution can provide high conversion efficiency. |
