Lubricant compositions which contain sulfur-containing phenol derivatives, and novel sulfur-containing phenol derivatives The invention relates to compositions comprising a lubricant or a hydraulic fluid and at least one compound of formula I (I), wherein X is -S-, -O-, -CO-O-, -CH2- or -NR5-, where R5 is hydrogen or C1-C8alkyl, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, R1 and R2 are each independently of the other hydrogen or C1-C12alkyl, R3 is hydrogen or methyl, and R4 is C1-C22alkyl, C5-C8cycloalkyl, aryl or aryl which is substituted by one or two C1-C8alkyl radicals, or is C7-C12aralkyl or the group wherein R1, R2, R3 and n have the given meanings. The sulfur-containing phenol derivatives of formula I are particularly suitable antiwear, extreme pressure and antioxidant additives for mineral and synthetic lubricants and for hydraulic fluids. The invention further relates to novel phenol derivatives of formula I which are suitable additives for lubricants, hydraulics and elastomers. |
