Slit light pulses are projected onto an object to pick up the image of line segments on it by a TV camera, and the video signals of the image are used to obtain the three-dimensional coordinates of the object on the basis of the scanning signal of the TV camera. The image position of a line segment on the TV camera is detected based on the weighted average of intensities of the video signals. A look-up table is provided which contains the correlation between the positions of segment images and actual three-dimensional coordinates of the object. The correlation is corrected in accordance with the distortion of the TV camera lens. The output from the look-up table is stored in synchronism with the emission of the slit light pulses. The apparatus correctly detects three-dimensional coordonate values of an object whose physical position changes at high speeds or whose reflective index changes greatly.
|
