摘要 Colour photographic optical disk has a colour photographic recording layer produced from a diarylethene deriv., which can be in 3 different states (A), (B) and (C), with different absorption bands. In response to light, it passes from (A) to (B) at wavelength 1, from (B) to (A) at wavelength 2 in the 2nd absorption band, from (A) to (C) at wavelength 3 and from (C) to (A) at wavelength 4 in the 3rd absorption band. (A) is pref. the open-ring cpd. 1,2-di (2,3,5-trimethylthien-4-yl)-1,2-dicyanoethene and (B) the closed-ring cpd. 4,5 -dicyano-2,3,6,7,8a,8b-hexamethyl-8a, 8b-dihydro-benzo(2,1-b:3,4-b') dithiophene of formulae (A) and (B). USE/ADVANTAGE - The disk is suitable for storing information in 3 logical states, "0", "1" and "2", giving over 25 times more numerical representations than binary logic.
